Uganda Clinic Overview

The Uganda Clinic Project is an AMAZING endeavor between 3 Eastern Christian High School classes, 2 St. Peter’s Prep classes, and missionaries in war-torn Uganda, among others as the list involved continues to grow.  It began with an art class wanting something to paint on and is building up to an inspiring awareness piece.  This photo essay details the project as it unfolds.

Missionaries Jesse & Andrea Kroeze SKYPE into EC’s Experiencing Missions class providing information regarding their plans to build a medical clinic in Uganda to service thousands of displaced peoples.

The Design Tech class receives initial sketches for the clinic and refines them.  Meanwhile, students at St. Peter’s Prep receive the same.  The schools plan to exchange sketches and ideas.

WILD!  The architect overseeing the project in Uganda expresses interest.  Matt Wolfe, at esteemed firm GENSLER, SKYPES into the Design Tech class offering his personal testimony of his journey into architecture and advice on the design process.  He suggests a collaboration with the students to develop the final drafts.

To raise awareness, the Tech class works with the Art class to develop a symbolic structure to be made at Eastern Christian.  It will be painted by the Art class based on the information supplied by the Experiencing Missions class.  They go for an 8′ x 8′ x 8′ structure that when seen from above doubles as a cross (icon often used to indicate a hospital).

Inspired, the Art class begins creating stencils using images from Uganda and others they’ve created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.  Meanwhile the Tech class breaks out the drills and saws to begin construction.    Cold weather and bleeding knuckles won’t slow their pace.

After acquiring a unique space to work in the students make the most of it. Watch a time lapse video of the project so far below.

Inspired by an upcoming trip to assist missionaries building a medical clinic in Uganda, Eastern Christian High School students work as a collective called Boiler Room Bombers to create a time-lapse art video to bring awareness to the plight and hope of displaced people in Uganda. 1.

  2. Oct09 The crux of your writing while appearing reasonable originally, did not really settle properly with me personally after some time. Somewhere within the paragraphs you actually were able to make me a believer unfortunately just for a while. I still have got a problem with your leaps in assumptions and you would do well to help fill in those gaps. In the event that you actually can accomplish that, I could certainly end up being impressed.

  3. Omg! I had to dig through my boxes for this book. My copy is numbered 172 out of 1000 copies. According to the book, “The same unknown photographer in St. Louis was responsible for a remarkable group of seven photographs. This series depicts Booth and two unknown associates in a very early attempt at candid photography, known at the time as instaneous photography. In each of the pictures Booth is the central figure and the series acts acts out a story. This series exists only in the form of an offset print, with all seven on one sheet of paper. This series was taken in late 1861 or early 1862.”

  4. This is such a great topic. I've noticed how people get attached to the same book too and I always want to shout MOVE ON!! You're writing will just get better if you do. As for me. I'm fastish (not as fast as you) and the more I write the cleaner I get. But still dirtier than I'd like to be. How's that for a non-answer!

  5. #165 grim:Realize, we’re talking about a $750k house falling below $500k. Or that $500k house falling to $325k.What if that 750K house really should have just bubbled up to say 650k, and this was a more normal real estate bubble like we had in the late 80′s,but because of sub-prime no money down and all the rest, this bubble became turbo charged.Could we not reasonably just immediately skim off the top that last 10 or 15% increase before the bubble burst, and than go from there?

  7. Bitter much? Also anyone who knows anything about Spurs knows they don't pay big wages, facts are they finished higher than L'pool the last 3 seasons, they have a better squad than L'pool at the moment, are being linked to strenghening that even more if the likes of Adebayor return & they purchase Lloris, Oscar & Vertonghen & therefore are currently a better bet for CL football in the near future. Players don't look at past glories or tradition, but at the present & what that will bring them.

  8. CarolStill laughing. Reminds me of the first time my Dad gave me his shotgun and I couldn’t hit the pair of his pants he had placed on the side of the hill. Now with a pistol, I’m good! Turned out I needed glasses. Those cacti may get their revenge. I’d be having nightmares of rampaging cacti, if I were those men. On the wee terrier issue, tell them city dogs to terrier up!

  10. snuss: Once again, I have to explain things to you. This post has NOTHING to do with who should get credit for declining budget deficits during the presidency of Bill Clinton. It has to do with a 1996 poll showing that most Republicans — repeat: MOST REPUBLICANS — thought the budget deficit had increased under Clinton, when, in fact, it had declined. Do you have a reading disorder or something, snuss? Why do you so often need things explained to you?
